Flameproof explosion-proof electrical equipment encapsulates components that may produce sparks, arcs, and hazardous temperatures within an explosion-proof enclosure. This confinement controls the explosion internally, preventing it from igniting flammable gases and dust. The flameproof enclosure must possess adequate mechanical strength to withstand internal explosions without damage. The explosion gap is designed to cool flames, slow down flame propagation, and interrupt the acceleration chain, preventing external ignition in explosive environments.

Kõrgendatud ohutustase

Increased safety explosion-proof electrical equipment focuses on enhancing the internal electrical safety by implementing mechanical, electrical, and thermal protection measures to prevent ignition in combustible gas environments. High insulation grade materials are used to reduce contact resistance, thereby lowering temperatures. The protection level is elevated (not less than IP54). Typically, this type includes wiring and terminals but does not install explosion-proof junction boxes, current transformers, or other electrical components.

Intrinsic Safety Type

To achieve explosion-proof objectives, intrinsic safety type uses energy limitation in circuits. Electrical parameters, such as voltage, current, inductance, and capacitance, must meet explosion-proof requirements. Even in cases of short circuits, insulation breakdown, or other faults leading to electrical discharges and thermal effects, it won’t ignite an explosive gas atmosphere. This technique falls under the ‘low power’ technology category, indicating restricted electrical and thermal energy with low output power. The devices are incapable of generating any potentially hazardous sparks.
