For Zone 1 applications, explosion-proof types such as “d” flameproof, “ib” intrinsically safe, encapsulating Ma and Mb, pressurized Px and Py, oil-immersed ‘o’, sand-filled ‘q’, and increased safety ‘e’ are applicable. These types can also be operational in Zone 2. However, type “n” products are exclusively for use in Zone 2.

機器保護等級(EPL)GaGbGc
機器の保護等級は、爆発性ガス環境、爆発性粉塵環境、および炭鉱メタン爆発環境のさまざまな特性、ならびに機器が着火源となる可能性に基づいて規定されています。In explosive gas environments, equipment is designated with a "very high" level of protection, ensuring that it does not serve as an ignition source during regular operation, anticipated malfunctions, or rare failures. In explosive gas environments, equipment is assigned a "high" level of protection, ensuring that it does not serve as an ignition source during normal operation or anticipated fault conditic ions.In explosive gas environments, equipment is typically assigned a "general" ievel of protection, preventing it from serving as an ignition source during regular operation. Furthermore, supplementary protective easures can be implemented to minimize the formation of effective ignition sources, particularly in cases of anticipated and frequent occurrences (e.g. failures in lighting fixtures).

Regarding hazardous gases, classifications IIA, IIB, and IIC denote different gas types: IIA corresponds to propane, IIB to ethylene, and IIC to hydrogen. Models like Exd IIA, Exd IIB, and Exd IIC are suitable for gas hazardous Zones 1 and 2. Conversely, an Ex nL IIC product is restricted to usage in Zone 2 only.
